St Pierre Marriott Hotel & Country Club Christmas fayre was a roaring success A Christmas fayre in Chepstow which became so popular that organisers had to make it a ticketed function raised £6,707.69 for St David’s Hospice Care.
The money from the annual event, which is now in its fifth year and staged at St Pierre Marriott Hotel & Country Club, was boosted by £2,000 match funding from Basepoint business centre, Chepstow and £1,000 from Barclays Newport, which match funded the raffle.
Tania Ansell, of St David’s Hospice Care, said: “The Christmas fayre is always a great day out and a very welcome fundraiser for our charity. The 2014 event was packed with more than 50 stalls and there was also live music, choirs, festive food, face painting, a raffle and the man himself, Santa Claus.”
Thanking St Pierre, a Marriott Hotel & Country Club, Basepoint and Barclays for their support, Tania said: “Over the years it has become increasingly popular and in a way a victim of its own success so, we had to ask people to get free tickets ahead of the 2014 event to ensure that they could get in. Thankfully this new arrangement didn’t deter people from attending -in fact we made more money this year that we have done over the four years it has been staged.”
Liz Owen, of St Pierre, said: “It’s a fabulous event that we’re happy to support which gets better and better each year.”
